WWII German Luftwaffe 1st Pattern Officer Dagger by “P.D. Luneschloss”
This is a beautiful uncleaned 1st pattern dagger. Blade has a small wear mark at the base on unmarked side, there is a small discolored spot on each side of the blade from resting in the scabbard for 75 years, it is light and may polish out, no nicks or chips to the edges, tip area has very light wear from being taken in and out of the scabbard. Maker’s mark is crisp and clear “P.D. Luneschloss Solingen”, blade displays very nicely. Leather washer is split, but intact. Handle is tight, no damage other than wear to blue leatherette handle wrap and metal has a nice dark patina from age, handle wire wrap is intact and undamaged. Scabbard has typical marks to the blue leatherette wrap, no breaks, splits or holes in the leather. Metal fittings also have a nice dark patina from age, no dents or other damage to the scabbard. Chain hanger is in excellent condition, clip works great, marked “OLC” and “Ges Gesch”. Dagger fits in scabbard perfectly and is nice and tight when seated. This dagger was found at a veteran’s estate sale in Sacramento. I believe it has never taken apart or handled since it was brought home from WWII.
